I have been saying for years that Western energy policy and security policy are clearly linked by our dependence on Middle East oil, and have never been able to understand why there has been no massive debate about this.
Without the oil money there would be no thousands of Saudi-funded madrassas round the world spewing forth their messages of hate and brainwashing thousands of people into becoming hysterical Islamofascists. Simple as that.
