Bit of harmless fun - the Prospect/FP Global public intellectuals poll. Here are my current faves from their list of 100:
5. Christopher Hitchens
9. Jared Diamond
21. Francis Fukuyama
26. Steven Pinker
28. Samuel Huntington
33. Peter Singer
34. Bernard Lewis
35. Fareed Zakaria
44. Niall Ferguson
Comfortably in last position for me - Al-Qaradawi, natch... Anyone else want to weigh in?

All the list does for me is make me realise how shockingly ill-read I am. To pick my faves would be the same as asking me who I'd actually read anything by - Noam, Naomi Klein, Niall Ferguson. Just people whose names begin with the letter N. I'd have liked to see Michel Houellebecq on the list but I'm not sure he fit the criteria - Atomised & Platform both have some quite weighty thought in between the sex scenes though.
Can't wait for the inevitable Channel 4 countdown, hosted by Jimmy Carr presumably.
The best thing about the list is that Bono didn't make it off the subs bench.

Easy to solve, just radically change your political views, then you end up hating some people you've read stuff by.
;-)
No, all I meant was that to pick a 'fave' was meaningless as I'd read so little. It'd be like picking Denmark as my favourite Scandinavian country when it's the only one I've visited.
