MCB Watch - another blog to follow

Just found this blog, dedicated to keeping an eye on the Muslim Council of Britain:

http://mcbwatch.blogspot.com/

Some interesting stuff there, for example, a look at the History and Aims of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (man, do they hate Jews!), and how HT relates to the MCB.

From a Melanie Philips article on the proposed new law against incitement to religious hatred. Wonder what Sacranie would say to the same question today?

Then I asked Iqbal Sacranie, general secretary of the MCB,whether he thought that any public statements about Islamic terrorism, or any speculation about the number of Muslims in Britain who might support Islamic terrorism, would constitute incitement to religious hatred. He said: 'There is no such thing as an Islamic terrorist. This is deeply offensive. Saying Muslims are terrorists would be covered by this provision'.

Interesting piece on today's World This Weekend about the Muslim Council of Britain, about whether it is part of the problem or the solution to issues facing Muslims in Britain today. The main accusation against it is that it concentrates on macro policy issues like Iraq over day-to-day domestic issues, that it has a hardline bias, and that Muslim organisations outside its umbrella don't get a look-in because of its quasi-official status eg when attempting to work with police.

There doesn't seem to be an archive for this program, so I guess if you want to listen, it'll have to be this week.
